Loving Care

Imagine a 6-year-old boy who cannot walk or talk

abandoned to die in a park in the middle of the night.

Imagine a 2-year-old little girl who is on the run with her mother

to escape her father who wants to kill her because she has a disability.

Imagine a single mom struggling to raise her little girl alone

because her husband abandoned them when the little girl was born disabled.

Imagine a 20-year-old young lady who is nearly dead from intentional starvation after her mother put her on a starvation diet to kill her because of her disability.

Imagine a 13-year-old autistic boy who is chained naked and alone in a hut

for days at a time because his family does not know what to do with him.

Imagine a 13-year-old boy with cerebral palsy who is told by the local witch doctor that he will die by the age of 21 because he was evil in his past life.

These are the stories of some of the children at Lina’s Hope.

Lina's Hope is a non-profit ministry in Kampot, Cambodia.

Lina's Hope is a school that meets Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, to provide  therapy, academic education, crafts, and Bible studies for children and young adults with cerebral palsy.

Lina's Hope is also a home providing 24-hour care for disabled children and young adults who have been truly abandoned or whose parents continually abuse, neglect or attempt to kill them because of their disabilities.

Lina's Hope is a support for parents with disabled children, providing them with training in nutrition, therapy, education and care for their disabled children.

In Cambodia, because of the Buddhist belief in reincarnation coupled with poverty and a survival mentality, children with cerebral palsy often suffer discrimination and lack love and care from their communities and families.

Lina's Hope strives to share the love of Christ with the Cambodian people while providing a safe place for children and young adults with disabilities to learn and grow.

 The Hims

Heap Him,

originally from Cambodia, is a father of seven, pastor, co-founder, and director of Lina's Hope.

Jennifer Him,

is a mother of seven,

as well as co-founder and director of Lina's Hope.

The Him family has been missionaries in Cambodia for 23 years. Originally a family of 9, Heap and Jennifer and their three youngest children now direct Lina's Hope ministry for children and young adults with disabilities.

Lina's Hope Children

Currently Lina’s Hope serves 15 disabled children and young adults on a daily basis with the love and care of 20 staff.

Lina's Hope Staff

Most of Lina’s Hope staff are followers of Jesus from local churches.

Some of our staff are disabled adults from the community.

Some of our staff are parents of disabled children.

In an effort to keep families together and support local families with disabilities, we train parents and then pay parents to provide daily therapy and education for their own children at Lina’s Hope.
